Creating jobs for the locals
Creating opportunities for growth
Bamboo Agro Forestry project is implemented in rural regions where local farmers and ethnic minorities have limited access to cultivable land and few options for non-agricultural employment. These areas typically have low educational attainment that has yet to improve. Consequently, these individuals often find themselves working as temporary laborers with unstable incomes, leading to challenging and deprived living conditions.
One of the prerequisites of the project is to prioritize hiring local human resources at each implementation site, focusing mainly on farmer and ethnic minorities. They can participate in planting, tending to, and harvesting bamboo, as well as participate in the processing and production of bamboo products. This creates a local value chain, from bamboo growers, product manufacturers, to consumers. This increases career opportunities and helps them earn more stable income.
Job opportunities not only help local people increase their income but also help them develop new skills and improve their quality of life. The project also encourages creativity and the development of unique handmade products. This can boost local tourism, as tourists are willing to buy high-value handicraft products and travel to explore the production process.
When local people have jobs and get paid, they have income thereby increasing their purchasing power, this is the foundation of local economic development and supporting economic sectors.
Increased income, job opportunities, and economic development help local people limit leaving rural areas to find a livelihood in big cities, reducing pressure on urban areas, stabilizing local labor source.
Not only does it create jobs and increase income for local people, but it also contributes to the economic development of the region. The generation of new revenue streams from bamboo farming can be used to invest in various projects and infrastructure, such as schools, hospitals, or roads, helping to improve the quality of life of the community.
